Natural Water Resource Project, Truong Son – Quang Binh 2019.04.02
Dear Benefactors,
Dear Benefactors,
This is the third time Tu Bi Foundation returns to Truong Son Mountain to give gifts and implement charities to help Van Kieu ethnic minority people in slit villages along Truong Son Mountain – Quang Binh. This is a national area where forest protection is prohibited. All life activities are independent of farming and animal husbandry. 70% of people do not speak Vietnamese and most are poor. It is our every deed that brings hope, faith, and happiness to everyone. Clusters, communities and predestined localities are supported by the Association. This is a dream they never thought would be real. May the poor people who are destitute have a better life.

Every year after Lunar New Year, is the drought season in the Central provinces. People have to work very hard to find clean water, especially people in the mountains and highlands. Animals and people share the same water source – that is, drinking water in flowing along streams … It took us close to a 1 year, to have enough conditions to learn and implement this program. Tu Bi Foundation is grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Vu Van Duy’s family in California, elder Than Thi Bich Dao at Vien Thong Pagoda in Texas, and the benefactors in Virginia for donating and dedicating prayer to the spirits of Mr. Vu Van Phuong, elder lady Than Thi Bich Dao, elder lady Vo Van Nuong, elder lady Trinh Duc Thinh … reborn to peaceful world Pureland. The program is well done and successful.
We were taught to be mindful were reminded to build “Natural Water”. We take the water flowing from the streams from above and gather in two small self-built dams, through the process of gathering and filtering water twice by natural rocks. Afterward the pipes will bring water to the home of 45 families, two schools and the village community area. In every job to help the life of people and life, we are always concerned about the impact on the environment and activities of the people, especially Truong Son, which has many unique things that are easy to cause malaria. We also have plans to protect clean water for people to use to avoid getting sick.
Especially construction programs, Tu Bi always include with the local people. We provide the materials and locals contribute their efforts. The total program cost is 9,500 USD. Local contributions and small supplies. Tu Bi helped with $7,500 USD to buy water tanks and all plumbing materials to bring water down to the source. The program completed beyond the dream of Tu Bi and the local people.”
PARTICIPANTS AND WATER RESOURCES: Natural water was brought to Khe Cat village and to households living on the highest points of the unexpected village. Up to now, the project has been put into use, everyone in the village are happy and satisfied because they no longer have to go down the river and carry buckets of water back up.
The work was proposed by people and actively participated in the implementation. The work, discussion, quality check were done by the locals. LH women’s union of Quang Ninh district, the UB Mặt and the local of Truong Son commune contributed and support to push forward. The project was sponsored by TUBI FOUNDATION USA through Lieu Duyen and RDPR Quang Ninh.”
“From the day of starting the survey, writing the proposal, then executing until the date of bringing water to the people’s houses took just about a month. This morning, nine inaugurated and put into use the daily-life water project of Khe Cat village. The sponsor came to attach the name of the project, the total value of the project was over VND 150 million (excluding the workdays of the people). It is not too big or a lot of money, but it is touches the heart of the people, especially to solving their needs, they were happy to do it. People in Khe Cat village thank you very much!”
When a relative dies, the body develops the dharma to dedicate to the deceased relative. Clean water donated to benefactors in poor areas in remote areas of Ca Mau province. Please share this merit to dedicate souls to deceased beings to be reborn in the peaceful world.
The Tu Bi Foundation would like to express our sincere gratitude to our benefactors.
10 wells in Tân Phú commune, 12 wells in Thới Bình commune and 8 wells in Tân Hưng Đông. The Association recently received donation to build 10 more wells.
The rural areas of Cà Mau is surrounded by water which are salty from the ocean. In order to access clean water wells, we needed to dig 110 – 150 m deeper.
… Hearing the gratitude of each family, we wish our benefactors was present to feel and be joyous with the family as pure water pumped out from the well. Images of old and young people, excitedly bathing together, elderly people, people with disabilities, and large families with water sources at home. The benefactors’ contribution is very meaningful! We saved many people and families from severe illness because they had to use pond water, rivers full of rubbish, polluted water to bathe, wash clothes …
Each well will be used by many surrounding families. Because the water is polluted and it is a dry season, it is a bit difficult to find a good spring. The well must dig deep to 110-120M, some places up to 150M so all well systems must have pumps (each family buys their own pumps). It is true ‘pure water wells’! Tu Bi Foundation would like to express our sincere gratitude to local volunteers and ACE at Ca Mau Buddhist Charity Committee, for working so thoughtfully and choosing families very accurately. Despite the rain and sun, they have come to the place to help the people in the needy areas.
Much appreciation to our benefactors and volunteers

Natural Water Well in CaMau 2019
Dear Benefactors;
As a dream that started with the wishes of two students Madeline and Ryan Mai in grades 12 and 10, co-founder of the Duri-Ăn Group in Virginia. The two boys wished to carry out the program of “building wells, providing clean water” to the heavily polluted areas, belonging to poor families in remote areas in Ca Mau. The Tu Bi Foundation would like to express our gratitude to the Duri-Ăn students in Virginia, Tâm Vàng charity group in Norway, the monks and nuns at Vien Thong Tu in Houston & Thiện Đức Center in Virginia and the teachers at Thăng Long Vietnamese language school in Virginia supported and the called for his family and friends to support him. At first, we tried to have 10 wells to help Tan Phu commune. We will not betray the volunteers in Ca Mau, who are committed to remote rural areas to choose poor families to help. It is a miracle that within two weeks Hoi Tu Bi has received support to build 30 wells: 10 wells in Tan Phu commune, 12 wells in Thoi Binh commune and 8 wells in Tan Hung Dong. TBF has also received funding to build 10 more water wells in Ca Mau.
In Vietnam near the Lunar New Year season, the plane price is 3, 4 times higher than the normal price and the car rental is very expensive, so we decided to use Phuong Trang bed to save money on transportation. Leaving station 7:30 pm and 3.30 am to Ca Mau. Early in the morning, we prepared to leave in time, having to go to remote areas in Ca Mau. Near Tet, the vehicles were crowded and noisy. On 27-29 January, 209 Tu Bi volunteers consisting of Ms. Lieu Duyen from the United States and Ms. Hoa from Norway, we returned to Ca Mau province to attend the inauguration of 3 concrete bridges: Tu Bi 17 Bridge 46M long; Tu Bi 18 bridge is 25M long and Tu Bi 19 bridge is 24M long; and collect some water wells. Some wells are still being made while we are visiting. Taking advantage of the time after the inauguration of the bridges, we went to collect some water wells. In the scorching sun, families who received the clean water well stayed far away. Sometimes we took a motorbike taxi, sometimes we went by boat, and sometimes we had to cross monkey bridges to get to water well test sites … which made us very tired. Although tired, we feel very happy to see joy and smile on each face of every family. Listen to the thanks of each family and we wish that the benefactors were present to empathize and be happy to see the pure water being pumped from the well. Especially the grandmothers and mothers, who stood next to their children, they choked up saying “Thank you, thank you very much! Without the Association, we never thought we would have ‘clean water’ like today.” Images of young and old people eager to bathe together, elderly people, people with disabilities, and large families with water at home. The benefactors’ contribution is very meaningful! We saved many people and families from severe illness because they had to use pond water, rivers full of rubbish, polluted water to bathe, wash clothes …

Inauguration of School Water Well, November 2, 2018
Lâm Đồng: give water well ceremony and gifts to the people in Đam Rông district
On November 2, 2018, the Buddhist Charity board in Lâm Đồng inaugurated the “School Water Well” and presented gifts in Đam Rông which is one of the 62 poorest district of the country, it also have the highest ethnic minority population at 65%.
Responding to the submission for clean water well to the board of directors at Phi Liêng primary school – Pop Lé village, Đam Rông district – reason being that the old water well was near the toilet was seriously polluted. Tu Bi Foundation has considered and financed the fund for industrial drilling wells at Phi Lieng Primary School, including a 110m underground water pumping system. Water pumping system, storage tank to provide for school activities. There are more than 300 students who are children of ethnic minorities, teachers and neighborhoods nearby. When there is a drought, people in the area can also come for water. For many years, schools had to buy drinking water for teachers and students to drink because of the polluted water. For this reason the School Water Well project was implemented. In particular, the budget of the well is funded by 2 benefactors, dedicating the merit to Vũ Văn Phương and Mr. Thân Thị Bích Đào who passed away in 2018. Much appreciation, may the merit of this work bring peace to their respective families and may they transition to a peaceful world.
In the joy and excitement, the school Principal expressed: “We are grateful to receive attention from Lâm Đồng Buddhist Charity and Tu Bi Foundation, the kind concern for our teachers and students as well as their relatives. On behalf of all the relatives here, we sincerely thank the monks, nuns and our benefactors. From now on clean water will be available, the school will not be afraid of the electric bill for pumping water for people around the area … ”.
In addition, Lâm Đồng Buddhist Charity gave gifts to the poor families and students. This is an invaluable gift for schools and relatives in the region. Water is a source of life that each of us cannot survive!
We are grateful to the charity committee of Lâm Đồng, the teachers and monks who accompanied Tu Bi Foundation, and our benefactors in taking this project to successful completion.

Peaceful Pure Water Well, 3/29/2015 – Remembrance and Appreciation
Dear Benefactors;
Below are some pictures of the 15 wells in Cà Mâu and 7 wells in India to commemorate in appreciation to the late Venerable Thích Trí Tịnh.
Lieu Duyen has been involved in charitable activities in Vietnam many times, but she usually travel from September to December. Traveling in March is not as easy because of the susceptibility to ‘heat stroke’ since the temperature range from 100-103′ F. For 2 days in a row we were outdoor the entire day – riding a motorbike, taxi, boat, and working with the locals in U Minh province. So by the time we return to Saigon, we needed an entire day of rest, we discovered our skin was burned because we didn’t have experience doing charity during the hot season (next time we will apply many layers of sun protection).
Lieu Duyen and Ms. Nghia represent Tu Bi Foundation, traveling via Phuong Trang Guest Car from Saigon to Ca Mau over night. By the time we reach Ca Mau, we only have time to change our clothes, eat breakfast, and proceed directly to inaugurate the bridge at U Minh. At Ca Mau, the elders in the Buddhist charity group were incredible, enthusiastic and hard working. The joy of doing charity work in remote areas is that the local authorities are very concern for the people and are grateful for the gifts that we built for their region. People are happy, their happiness is clearly visible on their faces. In their house they have grown bananas and papayas which they present freshly picked for the delegation.
The Peaceful Pure Water Project was very meaningful to us as it is a program that Buddhist groups in Virginia, California, and Maryland have contributed to commemorate in gratitude to the late Venerable Thích Trí Tịnh. Thanks to his translation and compilation, many generations have access to sutras to study and chanting.
Tu Bi Foundation has built seven wells in India on the 49th day of the venerable passing. On the 1 year anniversary, the Peaceful Pure Water Well Project have completed construction of 15 wells in U Minh and Ca Mau province – our sincere appreciation and remembrance.
In India, Venerable Tánh Tuệ dedication and continuous effort to go from one village to another to build water well accessible to more than 50 families. We would like to thank you for your hard work in our programs to benefit all sentient beings.
U Minh province is an agricultural area, mostly forest with no roads – it is only accessible by boat. The distance between homes is very remote so choosing a location that is accessible for many families to share was not an easy task. It took the entire day for the delegation to travel to all 15 water wells. Without these wells, the families will have to bathe and wash their clothes in water ponds nearby and use rainwater to drink.
Most of the families who receive water wells are ethnic minority living in remote region; hence, their understanding is limited so we need to go to each well to examine the odor and check for alum. We also remind them to get/use the water regularly to maintain it’s quality.
In the past, there was a family that receive a well water but didn’t know how to use it, instead of pumping water from the well they took water from a nearby pond and poured it into the well. So the well water became red with alum. Since then LD has asked local officials to explain clearly to people on how to use the water well when construction is done.
After finishing the work, we boarded Phuong Trang guest car to travel overnight back to Saigon and Lieu Duyen return to the United States.
Much appreciation to Buddhist donors in VA, CA and MD
